From the challenges of growing up in the death throes of apartheid, to an unexpected and unwanted calling into a practice she didn’t believe in, Gogo Dineo’s journey has been rich in life lessons. She shares four key learnings from her experience as a Sangoma (African Spiritual Healer) that speak into the challenges presented by loss, change, failure, and the need to find a way to heal and live a life of personal authenticity. Gogo Dineo is a sangoma, a systems coach and facilitator. Her passion is to teach the world about African spiritual healing and its role in the 21st century. She runs an Institute of Spiritual Healing, where she trains shamans, treats patients, teaches at academic institutions, private sector, radio and television. Her philosophy is that people who are connected to their ancestors and their spirituality are like trees that are deeply rooted with an ability to thrive. Her aspiration is to help align mainstream health care to indigenous African healing for the betterment of those who are seeking wellness and health. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
